We used to live in Portland, and this year took our family vacation on Peaks Island, Maine. While we always knew there were tons of kid friendly things to do in Maine, I was surprised how much of it is off the mainland. We stayed on Peaks Island and came into town a few times, but spent most of our trip swimming, biking, kayaking, and exploring. It's been a popular family travel destination since the Abnaki Indians used to summer here. Here's our review of -- with lists of things to do with kids on -- Peaks Island and Portland, Maine.
Paris With Kids

Nothing except the high-end establishments felt so formal that we couldn't bring our kids. There are two reasons Paris is fun for family travel: Parisians joi de vivre (love of life) rubs off on you, and much of life in Paris is enjoyed outdoors.

Israel is an incredible place to travel with a family. We had an incredible time. It is a varied land with many historic, religious, cultural and natural wonders. Also, visiting other countries gives you a better sense of the political and social issues of the region. On a deeper level, one cannot help but feel connected to the area.
